About LockLore
What this site is
LockLore is a small, independent site that explains security and tech tools in plain words. The audience is regular people and small businesses — folks who know they should "do something about security" but get stopped by jargon, pushy upsells, and comparison tables full of numbers that don't answer the real question: which one should I just pick?
So every guide here follows the same shape: what the tool does in normal language, what actually matters when choosing one, a clear top pick, and honest notes about who a tool is not for.
Who runs it
LockLore is written and run by an IT professional who is currently studying AI security as the next step in their career. The research behind these guides doubles as study material — the same fundamentals behind professional security certifications are what small businesses need, just translated out of textbook language. When a guide can't be explained simply, it doesn't get published until it can.
How tools get picked
No tool pays to be ranked here, and commissions never change the order of a list. Every recommendation has to pass four tests:
- Transparent pricing — the real cost, including after any introductory period, is visible before signup.
- A real free trial or free tier — readers can verify a tool themselves before paying.
- Easy to cancel — no retention mazes.
- Beginner-set-up-able — one person, no IT department, can get it running.
We don't publish star ratings or invented scores, and we don't repeat marketing claims as facts. Where a price matters, we say so and send you to the vendor's own page for the current number, because prices change too often for a guide to quote them honestly. LockLore is reader-supported through affiliate commissions — the full details are on the disclosure page.
